Partner Support
While a pregnant woman must decide for herself how she will handle an unplanned pregnancy, there are times when it is her wish that we extend our support to her partner or family.
It is our belief that every person affected by situations of unplanned pregnancy is worthy of love, dignity, and support.
When working through the thoughts and emotions of an unexpected pregnancy, there are many emotions - for both of you. There are practical ways you can walk alongside your partner right now.
Giving your partner support, and sharing the responsibility in making the decisions at hand can make a world of difference. Encourage her to come to our listening Centre, to ask her questions, and work through her thoughts and emotions.
If she wants you to come with her if you can, to learn about the options, discuss your available supports, and begin to receive whatever help is needed. We have trained client advocates who can meet with you both.
First Place OPTIONS is available to help her evaluate the options and make the best decision she can, you can choose to support her through the process.
If your partner had an abortion, either one or both of you can experience a wide range of feelings as a result of the decision. It is not uncommon for the partner to feel grief, sadness, confusion, or perhaps something else that is difficult. At First Place Options, we want you to know that each of you matters and that you are not alone. We understand that reaching out for support can be difficult. We provide a safe place for you to explore your feelings in a confidential, non-judgemental, and supportive space.
All Support is offered at no charge and is available virtually or in person.
